Bargaining Session 15

January 28th
Our January 27th session was cancelled when CLP closed due to the weather. On Wednesday, January 28th, our Bargaining Committee showed up to negotiate in person at the CLP Downtown branch. Management chose not to come down and instead participated virtually.
Since the previous bargaining sessions, we had met as a committee periodically to work on writing a counter to management’s PTO proposal that would bring it closer to our own. We passed that to CLP management in the morning and also maintained our original proposals.
CLP management took the rest of the morning and early afternoon to caucus before responding to our counter. We had proposed expanding leave on several fronts and adding additional leave options. Before passing their counter, CLP management stressed their interest in ensuring high attendance and staffing levels at our library branches, and so they focused on revising their wage proposal instead of meeting our PTO counter. See the tracker for the details.
On February 3, 4, and 5, we’ll meet for three days of bargaining to continue negotiations. Please continue to stay in touch by attending Unit meetings, reading the proposals in the Bargaining Tracker, and emailing us at unitedlibraryworkers@gmail.com.
In solidarity,
The Bargaining Committee of USW 9562**
